Dear Friends ,
I want to share with all of you this weird time of quarantine for us.
First of all we are all safe.
Northern Italy suffered deeply but restrictions avoided contamination in other regions like Tuscany.
We haven’t seen each other for more than one month.
Annibale and Elena are in Nostravita,
Agim the worker is always around to take care of the vines and the wine in the cellar so that they are never completely alone.
My cousin Claudia and my aunt live near my parents and she buys things for them in town.
They have lots of space to walk… Annibale is working on a piece of wooden furniture to keep Giudi’s things in which we collected from her house and we want to have close to us.
It is more difficult for my mom Elena.
Luna, our sweet dog that you met with us, died unexpectedly just a few days before the lockdown.
She went at the worst moment.
Elena dedicated a huge part of the last 12 years to her.
My mom is the kind of woman who spends all her time taking care of the family.
Going to the grocery store, preparing lunch for many of us, helping in what we do.
She never had a hobby or a very personal interest except US.
So now I think she has plenty of time to think and feel Giudi's loss.
I hope to be able to spend time with her soon, even though it seems this virus is going to stay around the world for a long time changing personal contact for months.
Some customers asked us for wine so she is often in the cellar store room to prepare orders.
This is giving her a way to be connected with the love she was accustomed to having around with Giudi and all of You.
Me and my family, Luca my husband and Elia my son (5y) are in Montepulciano, which is 40 km from Nostravita.
We have a garden luckily and a chance to escape to some woods not far away.
Elia thinks this period is one big vacation sharing so much time with us as has never ever happened in his life!
Valentina is in Chianciano with her husband Simone and 2 kids, Agnese (12y) and Dario (9y).
They have a huge terrace and woods and fields very nearby.
Agnese is doing online school every day and Dario, less involved in school, loves playing soccer and jumping high on the terrace!!
Matilde, Giudi's daughter, is with her dad Mauro in Castelnuovo Abate near Montalcino.
She is strong, resilient…beautiful like her mother.
She is doing home school too. She is doing this very seriously since she is in the second year of high school now (She will turn 16 in a few days) She is one of the best students in her school. She studies foreign languages and English as one of her main subjects and she is full of talents that remind me so much of Giudi!
In this time I’ve started doing some art but not sculptures yet.
I am back in my drawings and surprisingly I started writing little poems cutting up old books.
It is something that has helped my heart so much even if it’s painful. Without knowing, images of my childhood and of Giudi came out. I wrote for days and days more than 20 poems and I think I will make a little book of them one day…hopefully matching them with new drawings.
On May 4th maybe the total lockdown will finish….maybe we will be back a little to our social Life.
I cannot wait to be in NostraVita again.
To breath the spring there
To hug my parents and the great oak.
To walk in the vineyards and to share Annibale’s knowledge about every single thing.
I cannot think about staying any longer far away from all this.
They are my strength.
NostraVita Family is resilient and will overcome all this, becoming stronger too
We promise you!
We can’t wait to share once more the beauty of NostraVita with You!
Last but not least we have a new member of Nostravita, her name is Arianna!
She is a special young woman very fond of wine and life!
She has been with us since the beginning of the year and, despite the difficult moment that we weren’t expecting with all the visits cancelled, we want to keep her with us.
She has shown a very special affinity with the family since the first day we met and she is very helpful with the bureaucratic stuff …waiting to be helpful for the visits as well in the future.
She will also be answering your emails with me!
I started using socials that Giudi was only using just a little, this was a personal choice so she could dedicate more time to real contacts.
In this period that visits are not possible I’ve found social media a nice, easy way to stay in touch with You.
The blog, which is dedicated only to people who have met us, will remain the most intimate way to communicate, share articles, promotions and things that we want to keep just for you, as Giudi decided when she created it.
Have a look at it every once in a while.
Grazie for your time!
