Annibale and the joy of making

As a daughter the most enchanting thing about seeing my dad getting old, is to see that he is not losing his sparkling vitality and creativity.
This winter has been a witness to it.
As the season slowed down Annibale as usual started to concentrate more on his passion of making…
As many of you have seen over the last 3 years we have a new building in progress that Annibale designed in 2020.
Officially for the office and storage but actually it will also be a beautiful art gallery made out of glass walls, copper, centenary local oak trees: columns and wooden floor and roof using disassembled barriques barrels and other fine wood leftovers.
Annibale has already carved by hand its roof which is waiting patiently to be located at the top of the building.
What I didn’t imagine is that he is going to enrich it with a huge amazing bas relief to be contained in the front architrave.
So day by day Agim and he have built a structure to contain this big artwork in progress where my dad decided to describe his own life and the main milestones of it using clay.

Annibale used to be a ceramist in the 90s and during the visits I often show the beautiful pieces he made 30 years ago.
I would have never imagined he would have decided to go back to this medium with such a big project and when he explained to me his idea I watched him with enchantment and wonder…. With eyes and heart full of pride.
Over the weeks we have seen him working with deep love and energy in 6 meters (20 feet ) ofBeauty.
We have seen the scenes of his life coming out like flowers under his wise fingers day after day.
Now all the 30 parts composing the whole piece are ready to be fired to become an amazing
terracotta tale… we can’t really wait to see it finished to share it with all of you…
